Kawasaki FR691V Oil Filter, Air Filter & Spark Plug (Part Numbers)
Posted by Outdoor Power LLC Service Team on
The Kawasaki FR691V (726cc, 23 hp) is one of the most common residential and light-commercial zero-turn engines. For a routine service you'll want the 49065-7007 oil filter $18.48, two NGK BPR4ES $6.21 plugs and the correct air filter for your engine's specification.

Kawasaki FR691V oil filter: 49065-7007
The FR691V shares its oil filter with the FR651V, FR730V and FS-series engines: Kawasaki 49065-7007. Our service department installs this family of Kawasaki oil filters constantly — on Toro TimeCutters alone, Kawasaki oil filters (OEM and the Rotary 12861 $12.41 replacement) appear on more than 40 repair orders from our service department's repair records.
FR691V air filter
Kawasaki parts lists show 11013-0752 $26.05 for many FR691V specifications, and tune-up kits for the FR series reference 11013-7049. If you prefer an aftermarket element, the Rotary 12758 $11.37 replaces Kawasaki 11013-7049 — it's one of the air filters we install most on TimeCutter-class mowers (32 repair orders from our service department's repair records). Check your engine's spec number before ordering; the air cleaner cover shape is the quickest visual tell.
FR691V spark plugs: NGK BPR4ES
Two plugs, one per cylinder. If your mower surges, misses or is hard to start warm, plugs are the cheapest place to start — but if a new pair doesn't fix it, look at fuel delivery next (see Lawn Mower Runs Then Dies).
Fuel filter
A clean fuel filter matters more on these engines than most owners think: the FR691V has a fuel pump, and a restricted filter starves the carburetor at full throttle. Kawasaki's 49019-0031 $12.73 inline filter fits many FR-powered mowers; universal inline filters like the Rotary 12950 $4.14 are another option and showed up on 40 TimeCutter repairs from our service department's repair records.
FR691V maintenance checklist
- Change oil and the 49065-7007 filter (use the grade in your manual — Kawasaki 10W-40 $14.01 is common).
- Replace both BPR4ES plugs.
- Replace the air filter element and pre-cleaner if equipped.
- Replace the inline fuel filter.
- Clean grass and dust from the cooling shroud and fins.
FR691V vs FS691V and FR730V: what's shared
The FR and FS families share many service parts. The 49065-7007 oil filter is common across FR651V, FR691V, FR730V and the FS series, and BPR4ES plugs are common too. Air filters and carburetors are where they differ, so match those by spec number.
Symptoms and the part that usually fixes them
- Hard starting, especially cold: plugs first, then old fuel and the fuel filter.
- Surging or hunting at idle: varnish in the carburetor's idle circuit — fresh fuel and a carb cleaning or rebuild.
- Power loss in tall grass: a dirty air filter or a partly plugged fuel filter.
- Blue smoke on startup: often overfilled oil or a mower stored on a slope; check level before suspecting rings.
Common mistakes
- Using a universal air filter that doesn't seal fully around the edge — any gap lets dust straight into the engine.
- Reusing the old oil filter "because the oil looked fine."
- Letting fuel sit over winter without stabilizer — the #1 cause of spring no-starts in our records.
