Bar length is a guide only: STIHL's small-mount saws (MS 250/251) take 62 drive links on a 16" .325" bar, while large-mount saws (MS 261/271/291) take 67. Always match your drive-link count.

How do I find the right chain for my STIHL saw?
Find your saw below, then your bar length. The chain must match the pitch, gauge and drive-link count of your bar; the drive-link count is stamped on most STIHL bars.
What does 36RS72 mean?
STIHL names chain loops by chain type plus drive links: 36 RS = Rapid Super 3/8" .063" chain, 72 = 72 drive links (a 20-inch bar on most pro saws).
Can you cut chain to a custom length?
Yes. Our STIHL chain is also sold by the drive link, so any length can be ordered.
